About the 5vpol PCB

5vpol is an open source PCB design by fullyautomated, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 42 × 25 mm, with 24 components from 21 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the TPS62135. By type, the board carries 7 capacitors, 6 resistors, 2 connectors, 2 diodes, 1 IC and 1 test point.

16-V Input 3-A Output Point-of-Load High Efficiency DC/DC Converter

This design is based around the Texas Instruments TPS62135 converter. IC Datasheet. Board Schematic. For layout, see the .kicad_pcb file in the repository.

Connect the input side to the power source, and the output side to the load. The converter powers on automatically above 3V input. Output is programmed to 5.0 volt, can be changed by replacing R2 and/or R3. Reference voltage is 0.7 V. Supported input voltage is around 16 V max., above which the D1 TVS diode will start to clamp. You can remove this to increase maximum input voltage to 18V abs max, but then you should avoid hot-plugging the…

5vpol: common questions

How big is the 5vpol PCB?

The 5vpol measures 42 × 25 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 5vpol?

24 components, from 21 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 5vpol design files?

From the fullyautomated/5vpol repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 5vpol design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with fullyautomated. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
