About the 2-Coil-Economizer PCB

2-Coil-Economizer is an open source PCB design by jrbe, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 68 × 55 mm, with 99 components from 25 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the C1879940 and TPS7B8250QDGNRQ1. By type, the board carries 38 resistors, 26 jumpers, 19 capacitors, 7 diodes, 4 transistors and 3 ICs.

2 Coil DRV103 Economizer PCB 8-28v

This V1.1 version is not working. The transistor is flipped on each channel and the DRV103's I got seem to be counterfeit. Plan is to eventually swap both DRV103's to 556 timers and to a logic ic for flexible input control to reduce cost, eliminate the DRV issues, and simplify the whole project. I do not have a need for this currently and have not had the free time to troubleshoot or rework it yet.

2-Coil-Economizer: common questions

How big is the 2-Coil-Economizer PCB?

The 2-Coil-Economizer measures 68 × 55 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 2-Coil-Economizer?

99 components, from 25 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 2-Coil-Economizer design files?

From the jrbe/2-Coil-Economizer-PCB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 2-Coil-Economizer design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which jrbe chose for the repository.
