About the Hummingbird PCB
Hummingbird is an open source PCB design by stanford-ssi, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 157.5 × 111.9 mm, with 79 components from 15 distinct parts.
Other key parts include the PPPC091LFBN-RC and PPPC061LFBN-RC. By type, the board carries 21 connectors, 18 resistors, 10 transistors, 10 diodes, 10 capacitors and 9 ICs.
From the project
Apr 7, 2025 (Koichi K.): Created the PCB layout. Next steps: figure out power and traces.
Apr 7, 2025 (Koichi K.): Created the PCB layout. Next steps: figure out power and traces.
Apr 6, 2025 (Sam C.): modified the schematic to be ready for layout. Linked all of the necessary footprints for parts. Added mfr, supplier, cost info. Action item: verification and layout.
Feb 23, 2025 (Victor H., Sam C., Jesse F., Luis S. and Pete!): Modified the KiCad schematic to include correct numbers of PTs, TTs, LCs, etc. (based on P&ID V4). Schematics are organized hierarchically. Problem: Still need to check for input/output conflicts. Action item: can add custom connector footprints next time.

Hummingbird: common questions
How big is the Hummingbird PCB?
The Hummingbird measures 157.5 × 111.9 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Hummingbird?
79 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Hummingbird design files?
From the stanford-ssi/Hummingbird-KiCad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Hummingbird design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with stanford-ssi. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
