This is a cycle-accurate FPGA recreation of the NEC V30 (μPD70116), developed and verified against real CPU hardware. A custom board connects the V30 to a DE-10 Nano, allowing the FPGA to drive the CPU inputs and read it's output. A test harness executes sequences of operations under various bus conditions and measures the responses. That information is use to infer internal hardware behavior and turn that into HDL code.

NuV30: common questions

How big is the NuV30 PCB?

The NuV30 measures 95 × 145 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the NuV30?

61 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the NuV30 design files?

From the wickerwaka/nuV30 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the NuV30 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which wickerwaka chose for the repository.
