About the HOLY ESC PCB

HOLY ESC is an open source STM32 PCB design by 0BAB1, published on GitHub under the BSD-3-Clause license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 64.9 × 39.2 mm, with 70 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F051K8U6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the DRV8300DPWR, TPS62932DRLR and MCP1703-3302E/DB. By type, the board carries 31 capacitors, 23 resistors, 6 transistors, 4 ICs, 2 connectors and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

An open-source closed loop ESC based on the Atmega328p (Arduino nano)

My effort to bring an open source, closed loop ESC to life.

You can order the FULL BUILD in a couple of click right : (Todo : add link once project post is approved)

The HOLY ESC is a BACK EMF based ESC, theorically able to be loaded up to 25Amps and more. But it serve educational purupses and has not be stress tested for any applications yet.

It was designed on KiCad 9 and aims at using cheap components to make the design accessible to all.

HOLY ESC: common questions

What microcontroller does the HOLY ESC use?

The HOLY ESC is built around the STM32F051K8U6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the HOLY ESC PCB?

The HOLY ESC measures 64.9 × 39.2 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HOLY ESC?

70 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HOLY ESC design files?

From the 0BAB1/HOLY_ESC repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HOLY ESC design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its BSD-3-Clause license, which 0BAB1 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the HOLY ESC without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
