About the Farewell PCB

Farewell is an open source PCB design by a-chol, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 215 × 72 mm, with 26 components from 6 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 0. By type, the board carries 9 LEDs, 9 diodes, 1 IC and 1 switch.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

cheap macro pad with rot encoders and joystick support

The Farewell is the cheapest 3x3 macropad I could make, with joystick and rotary encoder support.

The cost per unit is around $13 with switches, encoders, diodes and keycaps, for 10 units.

Disclaimer : This is not a final design. Problems identified following the first batch are listed in the "To do" section.

Farewell: common questions

How big is the Farewell PCB?

The Farewell measures 215 × 72 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Farewell?

26 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Farewell design files?

From the a-chol/farewell_pcb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Farewell design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with a-chol. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
