About the Video experimenters board

Video experimenters board is an open source PCB design by Batperson, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board measuring 88.9 × 57.2 mm, with 120 components from 35 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the ADV7184 and ADV7341BSTZ. By type, the board carries 61 capacitors, 40 resistors, 6 connectors, 5 jumpers, 2 ICs and 1 transistor.

From the project

An experimentation board using the ADV7184 and ADV7341 video ICs from Analog Devices aimed at enabling colour graphics over a video feed.

To interface with the VEB you will need to do several things: 1. Provide regulated 1.8V and 3.3V power supplies 2. Program the 2 ICs using the I2C protocol via the SCK and SDA connectors. Programming scripts can be found at the Analog Devices website, or you can check the source for WekaOSD and see what I have done. 3. Feed the horizontal and vertical sync signals (HS and VS), and optionally odd/even field (FLD) and interrupt (INT) signals to your microcontroller. The microcontroller needs to lock to HS and VS, in order to send graphical output in sync with the video. 4. Generate RGB video…
