Hardware design files for an STM32-based intelligent battery charger/control module

This repository contains the design files for a Battery On-Board Charger, a DC-DC converter designed to safely charge sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries from external power sources. The system operates as a buck-boost converter with intelligent microcontroller control for charge management.

Please see the accompanying software repository on GitHub for an example Arduino STM32 application that can be built under PlatformIO and used to program the on-board STM32 micro using an ST-Link programmer. Programming is done using a custom"SWD-Lite" interface that I use for compact, low-cost projects.…

Smart-Charger-Hardware: common questions

What microcontroller does the Smart-Charger-Hardware use?

The Smart-Charger-Hardware is built around the C431631, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Smart-Charger-Hardware PCB?

The Smart-Charger-Hardware measures 75 × 55 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Smart-Charger-Hardware?

58 components, from 40 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Smart-Charger-Hardware design files?

From the choreboy17240/Smart-Charger-Hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Smart-Charger-Hardware design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which choreboy17240 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Smart-Charger-Hardware without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
