About the Safety sensor PCB
Safety sensor is an open source STM32 PCB design by fr0st61te, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.1 × 45.7 mm, with 30 components from 19 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the STM8S003F3P6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LD1117V33 and VCNL3020-GS08. By type, the board carries 9 capacitors, 8 resistors, 6 connectors, 4 diodes and 3 ICs.
It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.
From the project
safety/tamper sensor
This is a primitive safety/tamper sensor based on STM8 and VCNL3020 proximity sensor with simple backup power mechanism. STM8 application saves state of interrupt and store it in flash memory, blinks when interrupt occurs.

Safety sensor: common questions
What microcontroller does the Safety sensor use?
The Safety sensor is built around the STM8S003F3P6, from the STM32 family.
How big is the Safety sensor PCB?
The Safety sensor measures 99.1 × 45.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Safety sensor?
30 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Safety sensor design files?
From the fr0st61te/safety-sensor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Safety sensor design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with fr0st61te. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Safety sensor without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
