About the Tinypol PCB

Tinypol is an open source PCB design by fullyautomated, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 42 × 25 mm, with 29 components from 24 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the SY8502. By type, the board carries 14 capacitors, 6 resistors, 4 connectors, 2 diodes, 1 IC and 1 transistor.

48-V Input Affordable 1.2-A Output Point-of-Load DC/DC Converter

This design is based around the Silergy SY8502FCC converter. IC Datasheet. Board Schematic. For layout, see the .kicad_pcb file in the repository.

Connect the input side to the power source, and the output side to the load. The converter powers on automatically above approx. 6.2V input. Output is programmed to 5.2 volt, can be changed by replacing R3 and/or R4. Reference voltage is 1.2 V. Supported input voltage is around 56-V, above which the D1 TVS diode will start to clamp. You can remove this to increase maximum input voltage to 85V abs max, but then you should avoid hot-plugging the…

Tinypol: common questions

How big is the Tinypol PCB?

The Tinypol measures 42 × 25 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tinypol?

29 components, from 24 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tinypol design files?

From the fullyautomated/tinypol repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tinypol design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with fullyautomated. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
