About the ControlBoard PCB

ControlBoard is an open source STM32 PCB design by InfernoEmbedded, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 94.6 × 60.3 mm, with 26 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F412Z(E-G)Tx_u, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LP2950. By type, the board carries 16 capacitors, 7 connectors, 2 ICs and 1 module.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

The devices directory contains schematics, PCBs & firmware for the client devices.

Inferno Embedded commands allow the device to be rebooted into the bootloader so that they can be updated. The device can also be forced to remain in bootloader mode by shorting SWDAT on the SWD header to GND with a jumper.

ControlBoard: common questions

What microcontroller does the ControlBoard use?

The ControlBoard is built around the STM32F412Z(E-G)Tx_u, from the STM32 family.

How big is the ControlBoard PCB?

The ControlBoard measures 94.6 × 60.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ControlBoard?

26 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ControlBoard design files?

From the InfernoEmbedded/onewire-softdevice repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ControlBoard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with InfernoEmbedded. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ControlBoard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
