About the CANServo PCB

CANServo is an open source STM32 PCB design by jlpoltrack, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 50 × 40 mm, with 1 components from 1 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G431K8T6, from the STM32 family.

It belongs with the robotics & motion, power & battery and test & measurement designs in this gallery.

From the project

8-channel CAN-to-PWM servo distribution board with per-channel current sensing, DroneCAN/ArduPilot compatible.

1. ARM GCC toolchain (arm-none-eabi-gcc) 2. STM32CubeG4 HAL library 3. st-flash or OpenOCD for programming

Each servo rail has solder bridges for voltage selection. Bridge ONE jumper per rail:

A 120 ohm termination resistor can be enabled via solder jumper. Enable termination on the last device in the CAN bus chain.

CANServo: common questions

What microcontroller does the CANServo use?

The CANServo is built around the STM32G431K8T6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the CANServo PCB?

The CANServo measures 50 × 40 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CANServo?

1 components, from 1 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CANServo design files?

From the jlpoltrack/CANServo repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CANServo design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jlpoltrack. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the CANServo without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
