About the Smart-Access-Control PCB

Smart-Access-Control is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by lukaszjesko, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 72 × 57.2 mm, with 26 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ARDUINO_NANO_V3.X, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 9 resistors, 4 connectors, 4 capacitors, 3 test points, 3 diodes and 1 module.

From the project

Two-factor access control terminal on a custom PCB. Verification combines something you have (a 13.56 MHz contactless card) with something you know (a 4-digit PIN), driving an electric strike through a relay.

PCB v1.1 rendered from the fabrication Gerbers. A photo of the assembled board replaces it after bring-up.

v1.0 was never manufactured: a design review found blocking errors first. What the review caught is the part of this repository I would point a reviewer to first.

Smart-Access-Control: common questions

What microcontroller does the Smart-Access-Control use?

The Smart-Access-Control is built around the ARDUINO_NANO_V3.X, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Smart-Access-Control PCB?

The Smart-Access-Control measures 72 × 57.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Smart-Access-Control?

26 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Smart-Access-Control design files?

From the lukaszjesko/Smart-Access-Control repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Smart-Access-Control design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with lukaszjesko. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Smart-Access-Control without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
