About the Mchck board

Mchck board is an open source NXP PCB design by mchck, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 36.6 × 18.8 mm, with 36 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the MK20LF, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the MCP73831-SOT, SPI_FLASH-X25XXSMD and MULTIREG. By type, the board carries 11 capacitors, 7 connectors, 4 ICs, 4 resistors, 3 diodes and 2 inductors.

From the project

MC HCK board schematic and layout

The goal is to have a small, cheap, and powerful development board that supports USB for easy programming, at a low price (current estimate: $7, target $5). This allows us to use the board for all silly purposes where spending >$20 for other microcontroller boards is just too much.

The schematic design and layout was done using KiCad , a Free Software EDA tool for Linux, Windows and Mac OS. You will need KiCad to open the .sch or .brd files - gEDA or Eagle will not work.

Mchck board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mchck board use?

The Mchck board is built around the MK20LF, from the NXP family.

How big is the Mchck board?

The Mchck board measures 36.6 × 18.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6002 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mchck board?

36 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mchck board design files?

From the mchck/mchck-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mchck board design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Mchck board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
