About the Sensor PCB
Sensor is an open source STM32 PCB design by nichlock, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 57 × 33 mm, with 52 components from 22 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the STM32L476RCTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AP7354-33W5-7. By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 16 resistors, 6 test points, 3 ICs, 2 connectors and 2 switches.
It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.
From the project
An Open Source Incremental Linear Encoder
All boards are KiCad 9 projects. Their outputs (fabrication, assembly, BOM and STEP files) are generated by each project's exports.kicadjobset` and are not committed to the repository. The Hardware workflow builds them on GitHub and publishes them as release files.
The links below point to the development release. It is rebuilt from the latest commit on main, so it is only the latest state of the design. It has not been checked as a whole or built as hardware. Versioned releases will be listed on the releases page.

Sensor: common questions
What microcontroller does the Sensor use?
The Sensor is built around the STM32L476RCTx, from the STM32 family.
How big is the Sensor PCB?
The Sensor measures 57 × 33 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Sensor?
52 components, from 22 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Sensor design files?
From the nichlock/open-linear-scale repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Sensor design in my own project?
It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.
Can I test firmware for the Sensor without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
