About the Hackpad PCB

Hackpad is an open source PCB design by RCosine, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 23.1 × 76 mm, with 5 components from 2 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO. By type, the board carries 4 switches and 1 IC.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

My hackpad project for the Hack Club Stardance challenge.

I followed the Hackpad tutorial and added a fourth key as well as some minor case customizations (rounded edges and a cat logo engraving). The case is designed to fit a custom PCB for four keys and a XIAO microcontroller.

There's 4 main folders: CAD, Firmware, production, and PCB. The CAD folder contains the .step file for the case. The PCB folder contains .kicadpcb, .kicadpro, and .kicad_sch. The Firmware folder contains files for QMK. The production folder has files for 3D printing, macropad firmware, and for the PCB printing.

Hackpad: common questions

How big is the Hackpad PCB?

The Hackpad measures 23.1 × 76 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hackpad?

5 components, from 2 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hackpad design files?

From the RCosine/hackpad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hackpad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with RCosine. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
