About the Probe PCB

Probe is an open source PCB design by rosalyntg, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 45 × 102 mm, with 37 components from 3 distinct parts.

By type, the board carries 32 inductors and 5 connectors.

Hobby Ultrasound Machine

This repository contains the PCB design files, FPGA firmware files, and host software for a hobby 8 channel ultrasound system. It can do phased array operation. Here's an example of the pulse in my forearm:

Picture of the functioning ultrasound system:

The parts of the ultrasound consist of: - The probe, which is a Acuvision 4V1c probe bought off ebay - As far as I can tell, it has 112 elements. I think a bunch of them are broken for this unit, so I've atttempted to work around as best as possible - The power board - This provides a variable voltage positive and negative rails for the…

The KiCad project lives in the rosalyntg/ultrasound repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Probe: common questions

How big is the Probe PCB?

The Probe measures 45 × 102 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Probe?

37 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Probe design files?

From the rosalyntg/ultrasound repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Probe design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which rosalyntg chose for the repository.
