About the Stm32-camera PCB

Stm32-camera is an open source STM32 PCB design by Scottapotamas, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 36 × 36 mm, with 58 components from 30 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F429VET6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AP2210K-ADJ and OV02640-VL9A. By type, the board carries 29 capacitors, 14 resistors, 5 ICs, 3 connectors, 2 crystals and 2 diodes.

From the project

Custom CMOS camera board with STM32.

General implementation notes during assignment and schematic capture. These are notes which don't make it onto the schematic due to length or relevance. Hopefully they might be useful during software dev.

- I2C2 peripheral is used for SSCB interface (configuration registers). - MCO (PA8) is used for the camera XCLK clock. Should clock at 24Mhz typical, 6Mhz minimum. This can be the HSI, HSE, a timer, etc. - DCMI interface is used for main camera connection (includes HSYNC/VSYNC/PIXCK pins etc) - PCLK is the camera strobe for 8-bit data on rising edge. - PWDN is the camera power down signal…

Stm32-camera: common questions

What microcontroller does the Stm32-camera use?

The Stm32-camera is built around the STM32F429VET6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Stm32-camera PCB?

The Stm32-camera measures 36 × 36 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Stm32-camera?

58 components, from 30 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Stm32-camera design files?

From the Scottapotamas/stm32-camera repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Stm32-camera design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Scottapotamas. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Stm32-camera without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
