About the RC Exhaust Digispark PCB

RC Exhaust Digispark is an open source PCB design by tebl, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-1.2 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 25.3 × 29.2 mm, with 12 components from 11 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the Digispark. By type, the board carries 5 resistors, 2 connectors, 2 jumpers, 2 diodes and 1 module.

From the project

Various projects on the road to creating a more interesting system for lights on RC cars. It won't be small, but at least I'll have fun making it.

The plan was to have the exhaust pipe glow red on heavy throttle, then backfire when easing up on the throttle. It'll throw in some regular sparks here and there to make it come alive a bit more than that, but the code is included here if you want something else.

The Attiny85 is a 5v chip, and we're connecting it to a 6v source due to it living inside an RC. Normally that would toast it as we're working outside the acceptable ranges, but we're using a diode with a voltage drop that's up to 0.7v - bringing us withing the tolerances of the…
