Portable, safe readers for Apollo Guidance Computer core rope memory modules

This repository contains all of the design files for safe, portable Block I and Block II Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC) core rope memory readers. For a detailed explanation of how it all works, check out CuriousMarc's video featuring this project.

The rope readers are designed to be electrically and mechanically exactly identical to real AGCs from the point of view of the rope modules. Exact mechanical dimensions and interfacing circuits were copied from the original AGC engineering drawings, obtained from the National Archives. During bringup, all circuits are calibrated to the original…

Test rope: common questions

How big is the Test rope PCB?

The Test rope measures 62.2 × 99.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Test rope?

25 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Test rope design files?

From the thewonderidiot/lachesis repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Test rope design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which thewonderidiot chose for the repository.
