About the SNEdge PCB

SNEdge is an open source PCB design by ThunderTechnologies, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 42.4 × 18.4 mm, with 28 components from 13 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the THS7376IPWR. By type, the board carries 15 resistors, 8 capacitors, 4 connectors and 1 IC.

From the project

An open source edge sharpener for the SNES

SNEdge V2 is to a state where it can be considered stable. As SNES revisions are tested, instructions will be added to the wiki. For now, only the full bypass is supported. The sidecar install will get a dedicated design at some point.

The SNEdge corrects much of the smearing that's present on the 2 chip SNES. It taps the console's RGB, cleanly buffers it, and applies a tuned amount of sharpening to bring back the crisp edges the stock 2 chip output loses.

SNEdge: common questions

How big is the SNEdge PCB?

The SNEdge measures 42.4 × 18.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SNEdge?

28 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SNEdge design files?

From the ThunderTechnologies/SNEdge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SNEdge design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which ThunderTechnologies chose for the repository.
