About the 07 alu PCB

07 alu is an open source PCB design by tmarhguy, published on GitHub under the SHL-2.1 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 99.8 mm, with 131 components from 13 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 74ACT541, 74ACT00, 74ACT283, 74HC688 and 74ACT151. By type, the board carries 63 diodes, 25 ICs, 25 capacitors, 9 connectors and 9 resistors.

From the project

A functional 32-bit computer built from scratch in a dorm; implemented on FPGA, Kicad, browser simulation

The physical 32-bit ALU for Tomato — two independent 3-input LUT planes per bit, summed through 74ACT283 nibble adders, with on-board flag logic, carry select, and a bring-up LED wall. One PCB is an 8-bit slice; stack two for 16-bit bench bring-up. Digital source of truth: alu-32b-final.dig. KiCad project: 07alu.kicadpro.

07 alu: common questions

How big is the 07 alu PCB?

The 07 alu measures 100 × 99.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 07 alu?

131 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 07 alu design files?

From the tmarhguy/tomato repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 07 alu design in my own project?

It is published under SHL-2.1, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.
