About the PDH photodiode PCB

PDH photodiode is an open source PCB design by TU-Darmstadt-APQ, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-1.2 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 47 × 55 mm, with 33 components from 18 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the LT3032EDE#PBF, LTC6269HDD-10#PBF and LTC6228HS8#PBF. By type, the board carries 15 capacitors, 11 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 connectors and 1 diode.

From the project

Fast photodiode for PDH-laser-locking

PDH photodiode =================== Wideband photodetector based on a Si-PIN photodiode (Hamamatsu S9055-01) and a transimpedance amplifier (TIA). The detector features an additional non-inverting (voltage) amplifier stage AC-coupled to the TIA designed for the purpose of Pound-Drever-Hall (PDH) laser locking.

An alternative version with Excelitas C30617L-100 InGaAs photodiode for applications between 960 nm and 1700 nm can be found here. All specs of the amplifiers hold for this version as well accounting for the significantly increased sensitivity of the photodiode.

PDH photodiode: common questions

How big is the PDH photodiode PCB?

The PDH photodiode measures 47 × 55 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PDH photodiode?

33 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PDH photodiode design files?

From the TU-Darmstadt-APQ/PDH_photodiode repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PDH photodiode design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-1.2 license, which TU-Darmstadt-APQ chose for the repository.
