About the STM32WB55Cx minimal PCB

STM32WB55Cx minimal is an open source STM32 PCB design by WRansohoff, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 17.8 × 38.1 mm, with 32 components from 25 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32WB55Cx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LDFM. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 4 connectors, 3 inductors, 3 resistors, 2 ICs and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the rf & radio, iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

(Currently untested) minimal STM32WB board. These look cool because they have a bluetooth / 802.15.4 radio and an internal switching power supply. Fun!

NOTE: I haven't had a chance to test this board much yet, so if you stumble across this, please wait a few weeks before trying to make one! I'll update the repository with full gerber files and more information once I've checked that the radio/antenna/etc. work. It's my first RF design, so they might not.

I have received a first revision of the boards and verified that the microcontrollers can be programmed with a simple 'blinking LED' application, but I haven't tested any of the advanced peripherals such as USB or Bluetooth. Also, I think that I accidentally reversed the power pins on the…

STM32WB55Cx minimal: common questions

What microcontroller does the STM32WB55Cx minimal use?

The STM32WB55Cx minimal is built around the STM32WB55Cx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the STM32WB55Cx minimal PCB?

The STM32WB55Cx minimal measures 17.8 × 38.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the STM32WB55Cx minimal?

32 components, from 25 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the STM32WB55Cx minimal design files?

From the WRansohoff/STM32WB55Cx_minimal repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the STM32WB55Cx minimal design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which WRansohoff chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the STM32WB55Cx minimal without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
