About the Onepixelblecamera PCB

Onepixelblecamera is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by aboudou, published on GitHub. It is a board, with 20 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_MKR_WIFI_1010, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 10 connectors, 8 resistors, 1 module and 1 diode.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A mono pixel camera, with its companion iOS app

A minimalist camera that scans a scene pixel by pixel using a single BPW34 photodiode mounted on a pan/tilt servo rig. Pixel data is transmitted wirelessly via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to an iOS app that reconstructs the image in real time.

Instead of an image sensor array, this camera moves a single photodiode across a 160×100 grid using two SG90 servo motors — one for horizontal pan, one for vertical tilt. At each position, the microcontroller reads the ambient light level and transmits it over BLE. The iOS app receives each pixel as it is captured and assembles the final grayscale image.

Onepixelblecamera: common questions

What microcontroller does the Onepixelblecamera use?

The Onepixelblecamera is built around the Arduino_MKR_WIFI_1010, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How many components are on the Onepixelblecamera?

20 components, from 7 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Onepixelblecamera design files?

From the aboudou/onepixelblecamera repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Onepixelblecamera design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with aboudou. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Onepixelblecamera without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
