About the SolatronG2U PCB

SolatronG2U is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Acramonics, published on GitHub under the CC0-1.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 78.1 × 71.4 mm, with 34 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 32 resistors, 1 module and 1 connector.

From the project

GPIB to USB adapter for the Solatron meter.

Andrew Martin, acramonics, 2026 -------------------------------

G2U is a PCB for a GPIB to USB adapter using an Arduino Nano 3.

GPIB is a vendor-neutral interface for controlling equipment and logging data. While rather outdated, and largely replaced by USB and Ethernet, some equipment still uses it and there are many second hand devices (such as multimeters) that use it including the well-regarded Solartron 7150+.

SolatronG2U: common questions

What microcontroller does the SolatronG2U use?

The SolatronG2U is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the SolatronG2U PCB?

The SolatronG2U measures 78.1 × 71.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SolatronG2U?

34 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SolatronG2U design files?

From the Acramonics/SolatronG2U repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SolatronG2U design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC0-1.0 license, which Acramonics chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the SolatronG2U without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
