About the Clampinator PCB

Clampinator is an open source STM32 PCB design by AdrianR3, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 200 × 115 mm, with 161 components from 95 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32H573RIT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the TL432BQDBZR, EG2131, UCC33420RAQR, USBLC6-2SC6 and LM5012DDAR. By type, the board carries 58 capacitors, 41 resistors, 16 diodes, 13 ICs, 8 transistors and 7 connectors.

From the project

Inspired by the ODrive Regen Clamp, the clampinator is a custom built regeneration clamp targeting 16-60V systems.

The STM32 on the board is equipped with two built in CAN FD controllers, and the Clampinator has two accompanying CAN transcievers in the bottom left of the board. There is dip switch SW5 which can be used to toggle the internal 120Ω termination resistors.

Clampinator: common questions

What microcontroller does the Clampinator use?

The Clampinator is built around the STM32H573RIT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Clampinator PCB?

The Clampinator measures 200 × 115 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.67 mm thick.

How many components are on the Clampinator?

161 components, from 95 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Clampinator design files?

From the AdrianR3/Clampinator repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Clampinator design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with AdrianR3. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Clampinator without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
