About the CEWB PCB

CEWB is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by aJax-EXE, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 90 × 59.5 mm, with 8 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the A000066, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 2 jumpers and 1 module.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

The repository for all of the necessary code, schematics, parts list, and instructions to build the C.E.W.B.

C.E.W.B. (name pending; referred to as 'CEWB' throughout this README) is a low-cost, open-source electromechanical teaching platform designed for teaching and applying control systems concepts in a real-world environment. It was developed as a direct functional replacement for the Quanser Qube-Servo 2, a $5,000 proprietary device that is now outdated and requires an older version of MATLAB to operate.

CEWB: common questions

What microcontroller does the CEWB use?

The CEWB is built around the A000066, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the CEWB PCB?

The CEWB measures 90 × 59.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CEWB?

8 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CEWB design files?

From the aJax-EXE/C.E.W.B. repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CEWB design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which aJax-EXE chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the CEWB without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
