About the STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design

STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design is an open source STM32 PCB design by ashfaque-ur-rahman, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 48.5 × 24.3 mm, with 40 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32WB55CEUx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MIC5365-3.3YD5 and USBLC6-2SC6. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 7 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 inductors and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

STM32 microcontroller PCB design with RF capability —4 layer Board —KiCad project based on Phil's Lab tutorial series

My second STM32 PCB design, following the Phil's Lab STM32WB tutorial series. This was a significant step up from my first project — a 4-layer stackup with RF design considerations for the STM32WB55, which integrates a 2.4GHz radio for Bluetooth 5.0 and IEEE 802.15.4 (Zigbee/Thread). My first experience working with RF PCB design.

This is a 4-layer PCB — a significant upgrade from standard 2-layer designs:

STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design: common questions

What microcontroller does the STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design use?

The STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design is built around the STM32WB55CEUx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design?

The STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design measures 48.5 × 24.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.58 mm thick.

How many components are on the STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design?

40 components, from 21 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design design files?

From the ashfaque-ur-rahman/STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ashfaque-ur-rahman. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the STM32WB-RF-PCB-Design without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
