Building Sattelite part time

HAB-1 is an experimental payload for a high-altitude weather balloon. It will climb to about 30 km, record what happens on the way up, fall back under a parachute, and then has to be found on the ground. First flight planned in Thailand, February–March 2027.

Cube SAT: common questions

What microcontroller does the Cube SAT use?

The Cube SAT is built around the STM32G474RET6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Cube SAT PCB?

The Cube SAT measures 95.9 × 90.2 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Cube SAT?

46 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Cube SAT design files?

From the barcklay/Cube_SAT repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Cube SAT design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with barcklay. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Cube SAT without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
