About the EKA-PiF-MCU PSU PCB

EKA-PiF-MCU PSU is an open source STM32 PCB design by Blaze-Pascal, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 76 × 74.3 mm, with 105 components from 42 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G474CBTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LDI1117-3.3H, UCC27211D and TPS560430XDBVR-MS. By type, the board carries 40 resistors, 34 capacitors, 6 ICs, 6 transistors, 6 connectors and 6 diodes.

It belongs with the power & battery and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

2-phase synchronous digitally controlled buck converter (30V in, up to 10A out). Features a 4-layer custom KiCad PCB optimized for EMI. Firmware written in C (HAL) for STM32G474, leveraging advanced hardware accelerators (HRTIM, FMAC) for dual-loop voltage/current control and LCD UI.

Goal: Build a multi-phase, MCU-controlled high-power buck converter to act as a current amplifier for a linear lab power supply (30V/5A) at lower voltages.

Project Scope: - Custom Hardware: 4-layer power stage and control circuitry designed in KiCad with focus on EMI mitigation. Switching at 250 kHz, designed for 10A at 12V output. - Advanced MCU Control: Firmware written in C (STM32 HAL) for the STM32G474, utilizing a software-defined voltage loop (via FMAC), a pure-hardware current protection loop, and hardware encoder UI integration.

EKA-PiF-MCU PSU: common questions

What microcontroller does the EKA-PiF-MCU PSU use?

The EKA-PiF-MCU PSU is built around the STM32G474CBTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the EKA-PiF-MCU PSU PCB?

The EKA-PiF-MCU PSU measures 76 × 74.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the EKA-PiF-MCU PSU?

105 components, from 42 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the EKA-PiF-MCU PSU design files?

From the Blaze-Pascal/EKA-PiF-MCU_PSU repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the EKA-PiF-MCU PSU design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which Blaze-Pascal chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the EKA-PiF-MCU PSU without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
