About the AtariST FF PCB

AtariST FF is an open source STM32 PCB design by Board-Folk, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 97.8 mm, with 30 components from 25 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F105R, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3 and 74LS07. By type, the board carries 7 connectors, 7 capacitors, 6 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 switches and 1 crystal.

From the project

Multiple hardware projects that use the Flash Floppy firmware by Kier Fraser for various systems

A Flash Floppy Hardware Design for the Atari ST Computer, specifically the 520ST that does not an internal drive. It can still be used with other ST Computers such as the STe.

Minimum track widths, clearances and via sizes are within the standard offering of modern PCB fabricators. Development was done using JLCPCB and as such the Gerber files are provided to their specification.

AtariST FF: common questions

What microcontroller does the AtariST FF use?

The AtariST FF is built around the STM32F105R, from the STM32 family.

How big is the AtariST FF PCB?

The AtariST FF measures 80 × 97.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the AtariST FF?

30 components, from 25 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the AtariST FF design files?

From the Board-Folk/flash-floppy-drives repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the AtariST FF design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Board-Folk. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the AtariST FF without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
