About the Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy PCB

Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy is an open source STM32 PCB design by Board-Folk, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 82.6 × 80.8 mm, with 39 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F105R, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3 and 74LS07. By type, the board carries 23 resistors, 11 capacitors, 3 ICs, 1 crystal and 1 connector.

From the project

Multiple hardware projects that use the Flash Floppy firmware by Kier Fraser for various systems

They all use the STM32F4105 Microcontroller, Mainly SD Card and Side Scroll Wheel.

https://github.com/keirf/flashfloppy/wiki/Firmware-Programming#stm32-method-2-serial-programming

which requires a USB-TTL adapter, and using the stm32flash on mac.

Front USB Programming wont be available on some of the PCB's as well there isnt one, so has to be done via the TTL Serial connection to the STM32.

Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy use?

The Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy is built around the STM32F105R, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy PCB?

The Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy measures 82.6 × 80.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy?

39 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy design files?

From the Board-Folk/flash-floppy-drives repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Board-Folk. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Mini USB Edge Flash Floppy without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
