About the Motor-Controller PCB

Motor-Controller is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by camhan22, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 86 × 60 mm, with 40 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Attiny4313, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MAX15062A and a4956. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 10 resistors, 5 connectors, 4 transistors, 3 ICs and 2 jumpers.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

12-48VDC 65A Continuous 150A Peak brushed DC motor driver

12-48VDC 65A continuous (150A Peak) 0-100% duty cycle brushed DC motor driver

Communicates to a master controller through I2C with commands that look like the following:

Where D is the direction (0 or 1) (1 will apply +VDC to Motor+ Terminal) (0 Will apply +VDC to the Motor- Terminal) S is the duty cycle from 0-100% (This is checked by the software to ensure it is within bounds) (Anything out of bounds is clamped to 100%)

Motor-Controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Motor-Controller use?

The Motor-Controller is built around the Attiny4313, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Motor-Controller PCB?

The Motor-Controller measures 86 × 60 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Motor-Controller?

40 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Motor-Controller design files?

From the camhan22/Motor-Controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Motor-Controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which camhan22 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Motor-Controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
