About the Acoustic beamforming PCB
Acoustic beamforming is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by CGrassin, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 68.6 × 81.3 mm, with 51 components from 8 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the FM62429. By type, the board carries 30 capacitors, 6 ICs, 2 connectors and 1 module.
It belongs with the test & measurement designs in this gallery.
From the project
An experiment to do acoustic beamforming and beamsteering with Arduino.
This repository contains all the ressources for my acoustic beamforming experiment using Arduino. This original article is here: http://charleslabs.fr/en/project-Acoustic+beamsteering+with+a+speaker+array
Various pieces of code/ressource are sorted by folder.
This folder contains code to compute beamforming patterns.
The main script is beamformingpatterngen.py. Usage: python3 beamformingpatterngen.py -h (shows the help and options)

Acoustic beamforming: common questions
What microcontroller does the Acoustic beamforming use?
The Acoustic beamforming is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the Acoustic beamforming PCB?
The Acoustic beamforming measures 68.6 × 81.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Acoustic beamforming?
51 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Acoustic beamforming design files?
From the CGrassin/acoustic_beamforming repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Acoustic beamforming design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which CGrassin chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Acoustic beamforming without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
