About the Batlistener PCB

Batlistener is an open source PCB design by curiouselectric, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 50 × 100 mm, with 46 components from 37 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the LM386N-1, TL074CN and CD4024BE. By type, the board carries 17 capacitors, 14 resistors, 4 connectors, 3 ICs, 3 diodes and 1 transistor.

Design files for the Bat Listener ultrasonic detector kit

The kit is available to purchase here: https://www.curiouselectric.co.uk/products/bat-listener-2016

This repository holds the design files for the PCB, the enclosure and the instructions

The PCB files have been designed using KiCAD (http://kicad.org/) which is open source, multiple platform and free to download.

The Enclosure design files have been produced using CorelDraw (a paid for program) but are aklso available as .dxf patterns for cutting on a laser cutter.

Batlistener: common questions

How big is the Batlistener PCB?

The Batlistener measures 50 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6002 mm thick.

How many components are on the Batlistener?

46 components, from 37 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Batlistener design files?

From the curiouselectric/batlistener repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Batlistener design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which curiouselectric chose for the repository.
