About the Bfunc PCB

Bfunc is an open source STM32 PCB design by Cushychicken, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 63.5 × 25.4 mm, with 45 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F072C8Tx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AD9837 and MIC5504-3.3YM5. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 9 resistors, 8 connectors, 3 ICs, 2 crystals and 2 test points.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

Open Source, Breadboard-Friendly Function Generator Design

These are the source files for bfunc, a function generator I've been desiging, building, and programming in my spare time.

The fastest way to understand what's going on here is to read the design document. That should give you a good top-level understanding of this project. If it doesn't, there's a Contact link on my blog. I encourage you to let me know if there's something you don't understand, or is otherwise unclear!

Bfunc: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bfunc use?

The Bfunc is built around the STM32F072C8Tx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Bfunc PCB?

The Bfunc measures 63.5 × 25.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bfunc?

45 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bfunc design files?

From the Cushychicken/bfunc repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bfunc design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Cushychicken. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Bfunc without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
