About the Can io board

Can io board is an open source STM32 PCB design by cvra, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 16.4 × 20.1 mm, with 22 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F302K8U6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MCP1703 and MAX3051. By type, the board carries 10 capacitors, 3 ICs, 2 connectors, 2 diodes, 1 crystal and 1 resistor.

From the project

small, cheap IO board on CAN bus. CC-BY 4.0

- STM32F302K8U6 (64K Flash, 16K RAM) - IOs (not all funcitons can be used at the same time) - 4 Digital input - 4 PWM output - CAN interface with two 4pin Molex PicoBlade for daisy chaining - Debug connector (7pin Molex PicoBlade) - SWD - UART

- Replace soldering pads by connectors (2x 8 pin Molex PicoBlade) - Reduce number of exposed IO pin (4 digital input and 4 PWM output) - Protect against 5V voltage polarity inversion.

Can io board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Can io board use?

The Can io board is built around the STM32F302K8U6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Can io board?

The Can io board measures 16.4 × 20.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Can io board?

22 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Can io board design files?

From the cvra/can-io-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Can io board design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Can io board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
