About the 2d xmas tree PCB

2d xmas tree is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by designer2k2, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 97.2 × 99.7 mm, with 32 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY25-20SU, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 20 diodes, 6 resistors, 2 battery holders, 1 IC, 1 connector and 1 switch.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

This is a only 2 dimensional pcb with all the components embedded into the 1,6mm thick pcb itself. The components are placed with the help of castellation into the pcb.

All files including the Code for the ATtiny and the KiCad Files for the PCB are here, OSHW!

2d xmas tree: common questions

What microcontroller does the 2d xmas tree use?

The 2d xmas tree is built around the ATTINY25-20SU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the 2d xmas tree PCB?

The 2d xmas tree measures 97.2 × 99.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 2d xmas tree?

32 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 2d xmas tree design files?

From the designer2k2/2d-xmas-tree repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 2d xmas tree design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which designer2k2 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the 2d xmas tree without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
