About the HackPad PCB

HackPad is an open source PCB design by doopyelephant, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 120.5 × 76.5 mm, with 34 components from 4 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO. By type, the board carries 16 switches, 16 diodes, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A 16 Key HackPad with a salvaged Touchpad used for swipe gestures and other things.

Aswell as a place to solder on the 12 pin FFC(Flat Flexible Connecter) that connects to the touchpad. The pinout of the touchpad was reverse engineered with a multimeter and a few partial labels on the donor board, I believe the touchpad uses the PS/2 protocol(the circular mouse port from the 90s) with a few modifications:

- FFC instead of circular port - The Two extra pins in the spec are used to relay LB and RB through the touchpad like: LB & RB -> Touchpad -> SOC ## Firmware This Hackpad uses QMK (QMK suprisingly has support for PS/2! )

HackPad: common questions

How big is the HackPad PCB?

The HackPad measures 120.5 × 76.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HackPad?

34 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HackPad design files?

From the doopyelephant/HackPad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HackPad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with doopyelephant. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
