About the Flexcable PCB

Flexcable is an open source PCB design by dsi-modchip, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 48.5 × 41.5 mm, with 4 components from 2 distinct parts.

By type, the board carries 2 transistors and 2 resistors.

From the project

This repository contains the KiCAD design files for the DSi modchip and the cable flex-PCB.

Currently, you'll have to order and make these yourself. I don't think making them widely available already is a good idea, there's still a few bugs left in the design.

The issues with the modchip PCB itself are listed here. Additionally, inserting a cable into the modchips USB socket too forcefully can cause the modchip PCB to snap in half, which is bad.

Flexcable: common questions

How big is the Flexcable PCB?

The Flexcable measures 48.5 × 41.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 0.28 mm thick.

How many components are on the Flexcable?

4 components, from 2 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Flexcable design files?

From the dsi-modchip/pcb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Flexcable design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which dsi-modchip chose for the repository.
