About the Sam badge PCB

Sam badge is an open source STM32 PCB design by ElectronicCats, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 69.6 × 45 mm, with 11 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM8S003F3P, from the STM32 family. By type, the board carries 4 diodes, 2 capacitors, 1 IC, 1 connector, 1 battery holder and 1 switch.

It belongs with the wearables designs in this gallery.

Sam badge: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sam badge use?

The Sam badge is built around the STM8S003F3P, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Sam badge PCB?

The Sam badge measures 69.6 × 45 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sam badge?

11 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sam badge design files?

From the ElectronicCats/Sam-badge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sam badge design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which ElectronicCats chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Sam badge without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
