About the Dmf relay board

Dmf relay board is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by esyywar, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 100 × 96.1 mm, with 74 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v2.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the HV507 and AQY210EHA. By type, the board carries 5 connectors, 3 resistors, 2 ICs, 2 diodes, 1 module and 1 jumper.

From the project

A complete digital microfluidic system including PCB hardware, arduino microcontroller firmware and real-time control software.

ProtoDrop is an inexpensive and easy-to-assemble tool to perform digital microfluidic experiments.

The PCB uses readily available electrical components and the popular Arduino Nano microcontroller.

Firmware is easy to upload using the Arduino IDE and an intuitive LabVIEW GUI executable can be run on any Window's machine.

To get ProtoDrop up and running, you must complete 3 main tasks which are detailed in this guide: 1. Assemble the electrical hardware 1. Upload firmware 1. Install software 1. Connect high voltage and experiment!

Dmf relay board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Dmf relay board use?

The Dmf relay board is built around the Arduino_Nano_v2.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Dmf relay board?

The Dmf relay board measures 100 × 96.1 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Dmf relay board?

74 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Dmf relay board design files?

From the esyywar/Digital-Microfluidic-Control repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Dmf relay board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with esyywar. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Dmf relay board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
