About the VESC-Modul-Hardware PCB

VESC-Modul-Hardware is an open source STM32 PCB design by FabianViermetz, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 30 × 18 mm, with 53 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F405RGTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the PINx6, PINx4, PINx2, PINx8 and PINx9. By type, the board carries 26 capacitors, 12 resistors, 10 ICs, 3 diodes, 1 crystal and 1 inductor.

From the project

Next to the STM32F405RGT, the DRV 8320RS is used for driving the 3-Phase-Inverter. the Board features all voltage deviding and filtering hardware, so the user only needs to connect the inputs and outputs of the modul to the required peripherals respectively.

VESC-Modul-Hardware: common questions

What microcontroller does the VESC-Modul-Hardware use?

The VESC-Modul-Hardware is built around the STM32F405RGTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the VESC-Modul-Hardware PCB?

The VESC-Modul-Hardware measures 30 × 18 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the VESC-Modul-Hardware?

53 components, from 32 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the VESC-Modul-Hardware design files?

From the FabianViermetz/VESC-Modul-Hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the VESC-Modul-Hardware design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with FabianViermetz. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the VESC-Modul-Hardware without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
