About the Relacon-HW PCB

Relacon-HW is an open source STM32 PCB design by fjenner, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 85.7 × 54 mm, with 48 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F042K6TX, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, ULN2803A and AQY212GS. By type, the board carries 17 resistors, 11 ICs, 9 capacitors, 8 diodes and 3 connectors.

From the project

The Relacon is a low-cost open source hardware USB relay controller

The Relacon relay controller is intended to be an open source hardware alternative to the ADU218 USB relay I/O interface from OnTrak Control Systems, Inc. The Relacon is not as robust as the commercial offering, but what it lacks in polish it makes up for in cost. Relacon relay controller is about an order of magnitude cheaper to make yourself compared to purchasing an ADU218.

Relacon-HW: common questions

What microcontroller does the Relacon-HW use?

The Relacon-HW is built around the STM32F042K6TX, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Relacon-HW PCB?

The Relacon-HW measures 85.7 × 54 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Relacon-HW?

48 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Relacon-HW design files?

From the fjenner/Relacon-HW repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Relacon-HW design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with fjenner. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Relacon-HW without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
