About the Z80P600 PCB

Z80P600 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Flat-Labs, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 24.2 × 51.6 mm, with 24 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA1281-16A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the FM25V05-G, TPS73633DBV, TXU0304RUT and Z80-Socket. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 5 ICs, 2 resistors, 1 crystal, 1 connector and 1 switch.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Fork of GliGli's and Imogen's Prophet600 firmware to use a dedicated board in lieu of Teensy

A board and its firmware to replace (and enhance) the Z80 CPU of a SCI Prophet600.

Devised as a tribute to the amazing work of Gligli (http://gligli.github.io/p600fw/) and Imogen (https://github.com/image-et-son/p600fw), it offers an alternative to Teensy board and its clones.

Presets, settings, sequences and arpeggios are now stored on a separate F-RAM chip. Thus, all of these won't be lost during upgrades

Z80P600: common questions

What microcontroller does the Z80P600 use?

The Z80P600 is built around the ATMEGA1281-16A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Z80P600 PCB?

The Z80P600 measures 24.2 × 51.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Z80P600?

24 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Z80P600 design files?

From the Flat-Labs/Z80P600 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Z80P600 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Flat-Labs. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Z80P600 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
