About the QWIIC-SWITCH-PROJECT PCB

QWIIC-SWITCH-PROJECT is an open source PCB design by Harshad-vali, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 30 × 24 mm, with 19 components from 13 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the PCA9536DR, PCA9306 and 74HC1G04GW,125. By type, the board carries 8 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 capacitors, 2 connectors, 2 diodes and 1 transistor.

From the project

"Qwiic-compatible I2C power switch module using PCA9536 GPIO expander — KiCad schematic, PCB layout, and BOM."

A compact, Qwiic-compatible power switch module built around an I2C GPIO expander, designed for easy integration into modular sensor/electronics setups without extra wiring or a microcontroller doing the switching directly.

This board lets a host microcontroller switch power to a downstream load over I2C, using a GPIO expander instead of dedicated GPIO pins. It's designed to snap into the Qwiic ecosystem, so it can be daisy-chained with other Qwiic boards with no soldering.

QWIIC-SWITCH-PROJECT: common questions

How big is the QWIIC-SWITCH-PROJECT PCB?

The QWIIC-SWITCH-PROJECT measures 30 × 24 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the QWIIC-SWITCH-PROJECT?

19 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the QWIIC-SWITCH-PROJECT design files?

From the Harshad-vali/QWIIC-SWITCH-PROJECT repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the QWIIC-SWITCH-PROJECT design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Harshad-vali. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
