Open source N64 development Cartridge
Uses Altera MAX II EPM570 to emulate N64 cartridge bus. N64 ROM is stored in SDRAM controlled by this FPGA. Uses an STM32 for USB communication and general board control. This board is designed to be as cheap as possible and beginner friendly. Parts were selected based on their avaliablity in the JLCPCB part inventory. All components except the micro USB connector and reset switch are avalible from JLCPCB, and thus they can manufacture the majority of the board.

El-Barato-64: common questions
What microcontroller does the El-Barato-64 use?
The El-Barato-64 is built around the STM32F103C8Tx, from the STM32 family.
How big is the El-Barato-64 PCB?
The El-Barato-64 measures 100.5 × 60 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the El-Barato-64?
55 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the El-Barato-64 design files?
From the Hazematman/El-Barato-64 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the El-Barato-64 design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Hazematman. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the El-Barato-64 without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
