4-bit LED PWM controller for a 24 V strip, driven by a Prusa GPIO Hackerboard (KiCad 10)

A 40 × 30 mm two-layer board that dims a 24 V LED strip to one of 16 levels set by four open-drain outputs of a Prusa GPIO Hackerboard. An ATtiny412 reads the 4-bit word and drives a low-side N-MOSFET with 10-bit PWM at about 2.4 kHz.

KiCad 10 project. The design brief is docs/spec.md and the reference netlist is docs/netlist.txt.

All parts are chosen from manufacturers Mouser stocks, and each was checked against its manufacturer's datasheet for package, pinout and ratings. Capacitor values were also checked against DC-bias data. fab/led-pwm-4bit-bom.csv is the full BOM and…

Led pwm-4bit: common questions

What microcontroller does the Led pwm-4bit use?

The Led pwm-4bit is built around the ATTINY412-SSN, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Led pwm-4bit PCB?

The Led pwm-4bit measures 40 × 30 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Led pwm-4bit?

32 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Led pwm-4bit design files?

From the hyiger/led-pwm-4bit repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Led pwm-4bit design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with hyiger. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Led pwm-4bit without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
