About the CBM-D9096 PCB

CBM-D9096 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by InsaneDruid, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 90.2 × 68.6 mm, with 28 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega1284-P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 75160, 75161, TXU0304 and L78L33ACZ_TO92. By type, the board carries 9 capacitors, 8 connectors, 5 ICs, 4 resistors, 1 crystal and 1 jumper.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Cost- and feature-reduced version of the PetSD+ from Nils Eiler, designed specifically for headless operation in an external enclosure, connected with a true GPIB cable, similar to a 9060 or 9090.

To use the 5V SPI SD-CARD header, JP1 needs to be set to position 2-3 (leftwards)

The one marked 3.3V SPI SD-CARD (J5) is operating at 3.3 volts using a TXU0304 SPI level shifter and a 3.3V regulator. The card modules attached here don't need (and should not have!) their own level shifters. This applies to nearly all readily available full size SD card modules. Note: this port supplies 3.3V OR 5V to the card module. Select the appropriate pin depending on the card module to connect.

CBM-D9096: common questions

What microcontroller does the CBM-D9096 use?

The CBM-D9096 is built around the ATmega1284-P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the CBM-D9096 PCB?

The CBM-D9096 measures 90.2 × 68.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CBM-D9096?

28 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CBM-D9096 design files?

From the InsaneDruid/CBM-D9096 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CBM-D9096 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with InsaneDruid. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the CBM-D9096 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
